On December 31, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Koger initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. The vehicle was being driven by a 31-year-old woman who exhibited slurred speech and admitted to consuming alcohol. Officer Buzard and Officer Benavidez were contacted to initiate a Driving While Under the Influence (DWI) investigation. The driver was asked to exit her vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest. At the police station, she provided two breath samples, which registered 0.15% and 0.16% BAC. She was charged with (1) DWI; and (2) Careless Driving. The outcome of the criminal case is unknown.
