On July 1, 2024, a complainant called the Clermont County Communications Center to report a reckless driver. Miami Township Police Officer Van Pelt located the vehicle in the Taco Bell drive-thru. He waited for the vehicle to leave and noticed that the Toyota Prius had no taillights. He initiated a traffic stop and the 22-year-old driver admitted coming from the lake, where she had consumed 3 alcoholic beverages. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which included a portable breath test. The result was 0.182% BAC. She was arrested for DUI and transported to the Miami Township Police Station. She agreed to submit to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.218% BAC.
