FULL INCIDENT REPORT: On the listed date I, Sergeant Carr was on routine patrol in Jones County. Dispatch alerted patrol to be on the lookout for a silver Ford Taurus driving north bound into Gray. Dispatch stated the vehicle was involved in a hit and run accident in Bibb County. A witness followed the vehicle down Gray Highway into Jones County. As I approached the intersection of Gray Highway and the Bypass I observed a silver Ford Taurus driving north bound with front and rear end damage. I turned around on the vehicle and activated my blue lights and siren attempting to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle made a right turn onto Clinton Crossing Drive and then proceeded into the parking lot of a local business. The vehicle continued rolling behind the business and failed to stop. I noticed Gray Police (Pennamon) unit come from the opposite direction in an attempt to block the vehicle. The vehicle then sped up striking a marked Gray PD patrol unit and continued toward Clinton Crossing Drive. The vehicle made a left turn onto Clinton Crossing Drive and sped towards Gray Highway. With my lights and siren activated I continued behind the sedan. The vehicle then made a left turn onto Gray Highway going South in the North bound lanes. Due to there being no traffic I cut through the median and continued south on Gray Highway in the south bound lanes. The sedan then also crossed the median and accelerated at a high rate of speed south down Gray Highway. Dispatch was notified of the vehicle pursuit as we continued down Gray Highway. The vehicle went through the bypass intersection and continued down Gray Highway at a high rate of speed. As we approached Landfall at Porter I noticed the driver began throwing items from the vehicle. I advised dispatch of the locations the objects were thrown. As we approached Gray Highway and its intersection with Greenwood Road the driver slammed on brakes and swerved into the north bound lanes traveling south bound. The driver then came to a stop and made a U turn and began back north in the north bound lanes. I turned around and continued the pursuit. The vehicle then attempted to make a right turn onto Greenwood Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road and into the ditch coming to a stop. I exited my patrol vehicle and gave the driver verbal commands to lay on the ground. The male driver complied, but would not stay still. I held the driver down on the ground until the next unit arrived on scene and the male was secured into handcuffs. Once secured I cleared the driver's pockets. In his front right pocket I found a clear glass pipe with a bulb commonly used for smoking Methamphetamine. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Henry Redd. Henry stated the vehicle belonged to his sister and he borrowed it to go to Macon. Henry insisted that he was being chased in Macon and believed we were there to hurt him. Henry was advised he was under arrest and placed in the rear of Sergeant Humphries patrol unit. As I approached the vehicle I noticed an odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. In the car I located a book bag that contained several pills. I also located a rolled Marijuana blunt near the center console. The back seat of the vehicle had two plastic containers full of clothes. Next list wrecker Stan's arrived on scene and took possession of the vehicle. EMS also arrived on scene and medically cleared Henry. Henry was then transported to the Jones LEC by Sergeant Humphries. Upon arrival at the LEC I began to log the evidence. I was able to determine the pills in the vehicle to be Alprozolam (Xanax). All evidence was secured into evidence lockers to be sent off for testing. I then secured warrants for fleeing or attempting to elude (felony), aggravated assault on a peace officer (felony), possession of a schedule II narcotic (Methamphetamine), possession of a schedule IV narcotic, and drugs not in original container. Henry was also issued citations for possession of Marijuana less than one ounce, too fast for conditions, license change (60 days to change license), seat belt violation, driving on suspended license (TN license suspended), failure to maintain lane, license to be examined on demand, and driving in divided highway. Henry was read his warrants and issued his copy of the citations.
