A public disturbance at a voting office quickly escalates into physical altercation and non-compliance, captured as officers intervene to restore order. On November 3, 2024, an interaction began when an individual, later identified as 24-year-old Daniel Schmidt, allegedly caused a disturbance in a voting line at a township office, refusing to wait his turn. When election judges attempted to direct him, the situation escalated rapidly as the individual reportedly pushed past them, began yelling profanities, and physically assaulted an election judge, knocking off their glasses. Other patrons intervened to restrain the suspect until law enforcement arrived. Upon arrival, officers engaged with the agitated individual, who continued to resist arrest and verbally challenged their directives, as heard in the bodycam footage where he states, "I just need to stay here for a minute," and attempts to justify his prior actions. The officer is heard calmly asking him to "Stand up" and suggesting they "talk outside" to de-escalate the immediate confrontation.
