On Saturday, August 15, 2026, I was traveling east on Interstate 40 near the 282-mile marker, when a motorcycle traveling east behind me, approached me at speeds near 100 miles per hour. I pulled my marked patrol unit into the same lane and turned on my blue lights to slow him down and initiate a traffic stop. The motorcycle drove around me and began fleeing at speeds above 100 miles per hour. There was no traffic in front of us, so I again positioned my patrol unit in front of him to try and slow him down, but again he drove around me. I discontinued the pursuit at the 284-mile marker. The driver was not identified, and I could not get close enough to read the license plate. After reviewing my video, I discovered I did not activate my sirens. I believe I failed to do so because I was trying to get in front of the motorcycle.
