On July 28, 2023, Lorain County Sheriff's Deputy Dungan stopped a vehicle for doing 50-mph in a 40-mph zone. When he approached the vehicle, the driver had initiated a FaceTime call with a friend (who turns out to be a cop) because she claims she was scared. She denied consuming any alcohol, but Deputy Dungan wrote in his report that he could smell "alcoholic substance" coming from inside the vehicle. She was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She ended up getting arrested for DUI and agreed to submit to a breath test at the jail. Meanwhile, Deputy Dungan went to her vehicle to retrieve her phone and the friend was still on the FaceTime call. The arrest report indicates the result of the breath test was 0.125% BAC. She was charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired and Speeding. On September 26, 2023, she pled guilty to an amended charge of failing to maintain physical control of her vehicle. The speeding charge was dismissed.
