On October 24, 2025, in Los Angeles County, California, Highway Patrol officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a BMW 650i on Interstate 110 after it was reported as possible DUI driver. When CHP officers attempted a traffic stop the driver failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit down the freeway. During the pursuit, the suspect drove erratically and attempted to evade law enforcement while officers followed with emergency lights and sirens activated. Officers deployed a spike strip in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to flee. The pursuit came to an end after the vehicle became disabled following additional law enforcement intervention. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and officers issued multiple commands for the driver to exit the vehicle. When the driver failed to comply, officers deployed less-lethal force, including a beanbag shotgun and kinetic impact rounds, before taking the suspect into custody. During the investigation, officers reported observing signs consistent with alcohol impairment, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage, bloodshot watery eyes, and slurred speech. The driver declined to participate in any field sobriety tests. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded handgun inside the car. Further investigation revealed the firearm was associated with additional violations.
