On March 29, 2026, at approximately 1:08 AM, I, Trooper Carter E. Lazenby with the Arkansas State Police, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a blue Dodge Charger traveling southbound on Interstate 55 near the 42-mile marker. I observed the vehicle traveling at a speed of 93 miles per hour in a posted 75 mile per hour zone in the left lane, confirmed by my rear radar. As the vehicle passed my patrol unit at that speed, I activated my emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and instead accelerated while activating the vehicle’s hazard lights, continuing southbound. I then initiated a pursuit, during which speeds exceeded 140 miles per hour. Traffic on Interstate 55 was light at the time, and weather conditions were clear. The pursuit continued for approximately 24 miles with light traffic. After losing sight of the suspect vehicle near the 17-mile marker southbound in Crittenden County, I voluntarily ended the pursuit.
