On October 15th, 2023, officers in Ohio observed a vehicle making an illegal U-turn and initiated a stop for the traffic violation. The vehicle, driven by one suspect and occupied by another, was also found to have expired plates. Upon interacting with the vehicle's occupants, officers detected the odor of marijuana, leading to further investigation. This routine check escalated when the passenger provided a false name and subsequently attempted to run the scene on foot, prompting the officer to pursue on foot that risked both her safety and that of the officer. The chase saw the suspect running through traffic, narrowly avoiding being hit by a van and ignoring officers' commands to stop, which led to the deployment of a taser in an attempt to safely detain her. The suspect’s resistance continued even after being apprehended and placed under arrest, managing to slip a wrist out of the handcuffs before being securely detained. The incident resulted in minor injuries to an officer and the discovery of marijuana in the vehicle. The driver was cited for the expired plates and released, while the focus turned to the passenger's identity and outstanding felony warrants. The suspect was ultimately identified, and it was revealed she had multiple felony warrants for serious charges, including aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and assault. The suspect was unable to post bond and was taken into custody. All confiscated substances were documented and destroyed.
