On March 12, 2024, Hoboken Police were called to the ShopRite grocery store after loss prevention noticed the return of 3 women who had shoplifted the day before (on this day they brought a friend). Police stood by in the loss prevention office and observed the theft occur on large monitors. They waited for the shoplifters to exit the store with the unpaid merchandise and then the 4 were apprehended and arrested. They were transported to the Hoboken police station and issued citations for shoplifting. 3 of the 4 were issued 2 citations each because they shoplifted 2 days in a row and the fourth shoplifter was issued 1 citation. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
