On May 31, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to CVS in reference to a theft that had escalated to a disorderly subject. Officers were advised that a male subject had stolen a bottle of liquor, exited the store, and then re-entered, harassing employees. Upon arrival, Officer Telles made contact with two CVS employees, who indicated that the male subject was inside. When Officer Telles entered the store, the 32-year-old male was holding a glass alcohol bottle over his head in a threatening manner. Officer Telles deployed his taser, which had no effect. When the suspect threw the glass bottle at officers, they initiated a take-down of the man and were able to get him handcuffed. He was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted, after it was revealed that his blood alcohol level was 0.518%. His charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
