Around 5:36 PM, Patrolman Randy Boehler observed a white 2022 Mercedes SUV swerving near Broad Street and Meadow Drive in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. Believing the driver may be impaired, he activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on Sycamore Avenue. The driver was identified as Marissa Haugh. During the initial conversation, the officer detected the odor of alcohol and noticed indicators consistent with impairment. Marissa stated she was coming from Red Bank but denied drinking. Patrolman Tyler Fox arrived to assist, and Marissa was asked to exit the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, officers observed lack of smooth pursuit, sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation, onset prior to 45 degrees, and vertical nystagmus — all signs associated with impairment. During the Walk and Turn test, Marissa failed to maintain heel-to-toe steps, took an incorrect number of steps, and turned improperly. During the One Leg Stand test, she failed to raise her foot correctly and put it down before the test was completed. Based on the odor of alcohol and her performance on the exercises, Marissa was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. During the arrest, she warned officers they were making a mistake, referencing her father’s position as a former executive at Monmouth Medical Center. Marissa was transported to the Shrewsbury Police Department, where she was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators but refused to provide breath samples. She was later released to a sober adult after processing. Citations Issued Operating Under the Influence Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test Reckless Driving Careless Driving Failure to Maintain Lane Failure to Exhibit Documents Court Outcome Court records show the DUI charge was dismissed on July 16, 2025. However, Marissa pleaded guilty to refusing the chemical test, and the lane violation was downgraded. As part of the plea agreement, she was required to: Use an ignition interlock device for 7 months Attend 12 hours at an Intoxicated Driver Resource Center Pay $630 in fines The remaining citations were dismissed. Later Incidents Marissa was arrested again for DWI in Oceanport, New Jersey on January 22, 2024, and later faced a third DWI arrest in Little Silver on April 18, 2025 Subscribe to stay updated with new releases, and share your thoughts in the comments.
