📄 Story tips, resources & support 👉 https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com Submit police accountability tips, bodycam footage, public records, court documents, and local story leads. A misdemeanor trespassing complaint at a Redding, California gas station escalated into pepper spray, multiple takedowns, repeated complaints of pain, two fractured ribs, and a legal fight over the bodycam footage. The videos show Daniel Maher being confronted and arrested by Redding Police Department officers before being transported to the Shasta County Jail. During the arrest, Officer Ray Maready appears to place Maher’s arm behind his back while Officer Dylan Johnson deploys pepper spray. Later, while Maher is already handcuffed and being walked toward a patrol car, Maready uses a leg-sweep takedown. At the jail, officers force Maher to the ground again while he repeatedly says he is hurt. Medical imaging obtained after his release reportedly showed two fractured ribs. Redding police initially denied requests for the bodycam footage. The video was released after advocacy and legal pressure from Shasta Scout and the First Amendment Coalition. Maher told Thin Blue Lies Media that his criminal case remains active. He is currently facing two misdemeanor resisting charges and one misdemeanor trespassing charge. He has pleaded not guilty, and his next court appearance is scheduled for June 24, 2026. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. This video provides commentary, reporting, and analysis based on publicly released footage, official records, published reporting, and a direct interview with Daniel Maher.
