On January 28, 2023, Whitman County Sheriff Deputy Miller stopped a 21 year-old female motorist for driving with her high beams on. She explained that one of her low beams was out, so she elected to drive with her high beams on. She initially stated she was coming from work, but then admitted that she had consumed alcohol at a bar immediately after work. She was asked to submit to standardized field sobriety tests, which included a preliminary breath test (PBT). The result of her PBT was 0.143% BAC. She was arrested and transported to the Whitman County Jail. About an hour later, she submitted to an evidentiary breath test and the results were 0.119% and 0.114% BAC.
