On June 17, 2024, Lacey Police responded to a single car motor vehicle accident. The 22-year-old driver was still sitting in her disabled vehicle when officers arrived. According to the police report, the woman struck a large concrete bus shelter, causing heavy damage. She admitted to consuming alcohol, so she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs). Halfway through the tests, she looked back to discover the amount of damage to her vehicle. After the FSTs, she submitted to a portable breath test and the result was 0.210% BAC. She was arrested for DUI and was transported to the Lacey police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.183% BAC. Before being transported to the Nisqually Correctional Center, she had a colorful conversation with her best friend via phone. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
