📍 Boise, Idaho — September 11, 2025 in the Evening at the Idaho State Capitol, what began as a solemn candlelight vigil to mourn the assassination of Charlie Kirk erupted into chaos minutes after sunset. Hundreds of mourners gathered on the steps of the Idaho State Capitol, holding candles, singing hymns, and standing in quiet reflection. But then, a man riding a Lime bike (or similar rental scooter) rode through the vigil, shouting “F*** Charlie Kirk.” In that instant the peace was shattered. People were outraged. Eyewitnesses say the crowd confronted him, shoving and shouting. Chants of “U-S-A! U-S-A!” echoed across the capitol steps. Tensions flared. A physical altercation broke out. Boise Police stepped in and one person was taken into custody — though it’s still not clear if that was the man on the scooter, or what charges are being filed. Tonight, we dig into what exactly the video and witnesses show: the timeline, the reactions, the role of free speech, and the question: when does conduct cross the line? Was violence inevitable? Was police response appropriate? And what do we do in a moment where mourning becomes conflict?
