On June 26, 2024, Union Beach Police Sgt. Davis observe a vehicle commit numerous traffic violations, including not stopping at a stop sign. Sgt. Davis initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 39-year-old woman. The woman repeatedly denied consuming alcohol, but based on her driving, Sgt. Davis asked her to perform standardized field sobriety tests. After performing poorly on the tests, the woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). She was transported to Union Beach Police Headquarters, where the police report indicates she submitted to a breath test. The result was 0.18% BAC. She was charged with DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to stop at a stop sign, and a marked lanes violation. Her case is still pending before the courts. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
