On July 11, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Roskos observed a vehicle driving in the bike lane. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 25-year-old woman. Officer Roskos asked the woman if she had consumed any alcohol and she said no. However, Officer Roskos pointed out that she did not appear confident in her answer and she immediately admitted that she had consumed one shot and one beer about 30 minutes prior. As a result, she was asked to step out of her vehicle in order to conduct standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). At the police station, she provided two breath samples and the results were 0.08% and 0.07% BAC. Despite blowing under the legal limit, Officer Roskos explained that she could be charged with DWI at 0.05% and above. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
