Two kids walking home from school in Port Charlotte said a black truck pulled up and one of the men inside offered them candy, a PS5, and a Nintendo Switch if they got in. Both children ran home right away and told their parents. Charlotte County Sheriff's Office deputies located the truck a short distance away and began investigating. This video contains the full raw bodycam footage of their response — from speaking with the children and neighbors to questioning the two men who had been in the truck, the identification process, and the statements that followed. The kids reacted exactly the way families teach them to. One child was able to make a positive identification during the investigation. Under Florida law, this charge is a first-degree misdemeanor for a first offense.
