On February 16, 2024, LAPD Foothill Division officers responded to a restraining order violation on Paxton Street. After attempting to detain 52-year-old Pete Garcia, the suspect pulled a firearm and opened fire on officers. Bodycam footage shows the tense moments inside the residence, where Garcia fired one shot before being tased and subdued. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder on a police officer. The officer sustained an injury from ricochet fragments but was later released from the hospital. Garcia’s weapon was identified as a ghost gun.
