On January 2, 2025, Des Moines police arrived at the 2100 block of Meadow Court in search of 32-year-old Charquan Hargrove, who was wanted on domestic abuse and firearm-related warrants. Officers entered the home after informing a woman who answered the door that they had reason to believe Hargrove was inside. The woman tells officers Hargrove is not in the house and that it is just her and her children. That's when Hargrove can be seen running from one bedroom to another at the opposite end of a hallway. Officer Nicholas Rude chases after Hargrove and asks to see his hands. Hargrove tells Rude to back up and then points his weapon at the officer. A gunfight erupts, with shots exchanged between them. Rude then retreats into another bedroom to reload his weapon. Moments later, the woman rushes into the room to protect her child, who is also inside with Rude. Hargrove follows her, and at that moment, Rude fires multiple shots, fatally striking him. In total, four people were in the room when Officers Rude and Stern fired their weapons. Officer Rude shot 17 times, Officer Stern shot nine times, Hargrove fired four times at police. 0:00 - Description of events 0:25 - Officer 1 bodycam 2:01 - Officer 2 bodycam 2:16 - Aftermath #DesMoines #PoliceShooting #OfficerInvolvedShooting #HomeConfrontation #IowaNews #BreakingNews #CrimeReport #LawEnforcement #GunViolence #DomesticAbuse #PoliceInvestigation #SelfDefense #PublicSafety Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
