On March 16, 2024, Kettering Police Officer McCoy stopped a vehicle traveling 56 miles per hour (MPH) in a 35 MPH zone. The 18-year-old driver explained that she was in a hurry to get her friend to work. She also had her mother on speaker phone as she claimed this was the first time she had ever been pulled over. When Officer McCoy asked if she had been drinking, she admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. She was then asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. While still on the phone with her mother, she expressed her vulgar distain for the Kettering Police Department. She demanded that her mother remain on speaker phone while she performed the tests. At the conclusion, she was placed under arrest for DUI. While in the back of the police car, she was allowed to have a conversation with her mother, where her mother advised her not to submit to a breath test. She refused to accept responsibility for her actions and even attempted to blame her mom. The police report indicated that she did submit to a breath test and the result was 0.124% BAC. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
