Bodycam footage from Baltimore Police shows a Western District officer-involved shooting on April 2, 2026, in the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. According to BPD, officers were first called around 12:16 p.m. to Wilson Street and Brunt Street for a report of an adult male being assaulted by multiple people. A detective watching CCTV gave real-time updates as people fled the scene. Officers later spotted 35-year-old Tavon Newton in the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Police say Newton ran from officers, leading to a brief foot chase. Officers attempted to arrest him in a nearby parking lot, where a struggle followed. BPD says Newton refused commands and would not let go of a black sling bag. Officer Devon Gubbar deployed a taser, but police say Newton continued struggling and gained control of the officer’s taser. Officer Gubbar then fired his gun, striking Newton. Police say officers gave medical aid before Newton was taken to a hospital in stable condition. BPD reported that a handgun was recovered from Newton’s sling bag and a knife was recovered from the scene. The shooting is under investigation by BPD’s Special Investigation Response Team, in coordination with the State’s Attorney’s Office. #bodycam #policeshooting #shorts For Collaborations → www.viceversesmedia.com Email: partners@viceversesmedia.com
