She turned on her lights and stopped the car in a lot near Sumner Avenue. The driver was Ashley Kirk. Morris smelled alcohol and saw that Ashley seemed impaired. Ashley said she just left Beachcomber Bar and Grill. She claimed she only had three drinks. Patrolman Lance DiFabio arrived to help. He asked Ashley to step out for sobriety tests. DiFabio started with the Walk and Turn test. Ashley stumbled, failed to count out loud, and did not touch her heel to her toe. Next was the One Leg Stand. She could not lift her foot right and almost fell. Finally, DiFabio checked her eyes for nystagmus. He saw her eyes jerk and fail to track smoothly. Ashley was arrested for DWI because of her driving, her admission, and the failed tests. Police impounded her car for 12 hours under John's Law. Morris took her to the station. At the police station, Ashley agreed to a breath test. Patrolman Andrew Leahy ran the Alcotest. Her BAC was 0.26 percent. This is more than triple the 0.08 percent limit. A friend signed a liability form, and police released her. Morris gave her one ticket for operating under the influence. On March 3, 2026, a court found Ashley guilty.
