Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On March 17, 2023, at about 11:27 PM, Patrolman John DiBiase from Medford Township Police rushed to a car crash on Medford-Mount Holly Road near Route 70. He found the driver of a white 2010 Honda Accord. Her name was Madeline. The Honda's front end looked wrecked from hitting a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. DiBiase asked Madeline what went wrong. She called it a "fender bender." While they talked, he smelled alcohol on her breath. Madeline said she came from Ark Brewery in Lumberton. She admitted drinking earlier that night. He suspected she was impaired. So he had her do field sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. DiBiase saw no smooth eye pursuit. Nystagmus jerked at max deviation and started before 45 degrees. Next was the Walk and Turn. Madeline missed heel-to-toe steps. She took the wrong number of steps. Last was One Leg Stand. She failed to lift her foot right and dropped it too soon. The crash, her alcohol admission, and failed tests led to her arrest for DUI. They put her in the patrol car. Her Honda got impounded for 12 hours under John's Law. DiBiase took her to Medford Lakes Police for processing. There, Madeline agreed to a breath test. During the first 20-minute watch, she vomited. They restarted the clock. Right before the breathalyzer, she puked again. They reset once more. Finally, she blew into the machine. But it malfunctioned. With their Alcotest broken, they drove her to Evesham Township Police. Madeline sat through another 20-minute observation. Then she gave breath samples. Results showed 0.14% BAC. That's almost twice the 0.08% limit. DiBiase dropped her at her apartment after. Her fiancé signed a liability form. She went home with him until court. She got tickets for DUI, reckless driving, and unregistered vehicle. Court papers say on September 14, 2023, Madeline pled guilty to DUI. She spent 12 hours at an intoxicated driver center.
