It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On October 29, 2023, around 2:40 AM, Officer Tyler Mania saw a car run a red light. It was a blue 2011 Hyundai Genesis on Haines Mill Road. He followed the car. He stopped it on Route 130 near Creek Road. Officer Erdem Ucak arrived. They both talked to the driver. Her name was Madeline. He smelled alcohol on Madeline. He saw other signs she might be impaired. He asked how much she drank. Madeline said she had one drink. It was at a Halloween party in Philly. She also told him about a past DUI arrest. Because he suspected she was drunk, he asked her to get out. She needed to do some tests. First, she took the eye tracking test. Next was the Walk and Turn test. During this test, she didn't step heel-to-toe. She also turned the wrong way. The last test was the One Leg Stand. Madeline could not hold her foot up right. He arrested Madeline for drunk driving. This was due to the traffic stop. It was also because of the alcohol smell. She admitted drinking. An open container was in her car. She failed the sobriety tests. A search found an open container. Her car was held for 12 hours. Officer Mania took Madeline to the police station. At the station, Madeline heard the rules. She agreed to breathe into a device. Her test showed a BAC of 0.13%. This is over the legal limit of 0.08%. Madeline was released to a friend. She had to go to court later. Officer Mania gave her tickets for drunk driving. He also cited her for reckless driving. Careless driving, running a red light, and having an open container were also cited. Court documents show Madeline's DUI charge was dropped. This happened on July 31, 2024. It was part of a plea deal. She was found guilty of reckless driving. She had to use an ignition device for two months. She also paid $440 in fines. The other tickets were dropped with the plea. Madeline was previously arrested for DUI. That was on December 10, 2022.
