Entitled Driver’s Attempt To Flee Active Crime Scene Ends In A Disaster "UPDATE: According to court records from the Broward State Attorney’s Office charges were filed in this case; however, the defendant passed away while proceedings were ongoing, and the case disposition was filed on Jan. 13, 2025." Broward County deputies were managing a crash scene with barricades and flashing lights when a driver, Donna Raj, ignored the road closure and drove directly through the scene. A check of her driver's license revealed it was suspended. The deputy decided to issue citations rather than tow the vehicle, explicitly warning her that she was not legally permitted to drive the vehicle from the scene. Immediately after receiving the citations, Raj put her vehicle into drive, struck a parked patrol car with a prisoner inside, and fled to her nearby residence. Deputies pursued her to her driveway, where she attempted to barricade herself inside her home before being taken into custody. Although initially booked on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts, state prosecutors ultimately dropped all charges against her.
