On January 30, 2024, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Michael Underwood near CR-325 in Bunnell. Upon approaching the vehicle, law enforcement detected the scent of cannabis, prompting a probable cause search after Underwood admitted he did not possess a medical marijuana card. The search yielded quantities of cocaine and methylone, leading to Underwood’s immediate arrest. However, the situation took a bizarre turn once he was placed in the patrol car; body camera and transport footage captured Underwood retrieving an additional bag of narcotics from his person and attempting to scatter the contents across the floorboard to destroy the evidence. Underwood, a habitual offender with a criminal history dating back to 2007, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of methylone, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.
