During a routine patrol, officers observed an unknown male, later identified as Patrick Drumm, riding a bicycle southbound on Brown St without a front bicycle light. They stopped Mr. Drumm at the intersection of Lovers Lane/Clay St and explained the reason for the stop. Officers requested Mr. Drumm's personal information and began running it through LEADS. However, Mr. Drumm's behavior became suspicious as he glanced around, clenched his handlebars, and positioned his foot on the bicycle pedal. When officers asked him to step off the bike, Mr. Drumm attempted to flee by pedaling away. After getting off the bike, he led officers on a short foot pursuit through residential yards in the City of Akron before being apprehended in the side yard of 1019 Kling St. During a search incident to arrest, officers found a white crystallized substance inside an empty cigarette pack on Mr. Drumm's person. Additionally, a glass pipe was found in his backpack. A NIK test confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine at 0442. Under Miranda rights, Mr. Drumm admitted that the white crystallized substance was believed to be methamphetamine.
