On June 2, 2024, Atlanta Police officers responded to 2900 Peachtree Road in reference to a business burglary. Upon arrival, Police officers spoke to the reporting party for the business who stated that an unidentified male had gained access to the business through a rear door and took $279 in cash from a cash register. While searching the area for the suspect an officer finds a man who matches the suspect's description. The officer instructs the male to turn around so he can detain him, but the suspect flees from the officer on foot. A foot pursuit ensues and the suspect runs into a Publix store where additional officers respond to and ultimately apprehended him. The suspect is later identified as 22-year-old Benny Brathwaite. Mr. Brathwaite was placed into custody and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Misdemeanor Willful Obstruction of a Police Officer. Mr. Brathwaite was transported and booked into the Fulton County Jail. #atlanta #police #chase #running
