On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, deputies responded to the Border Patrol Station in Marathon, Florida, regarding a medical emergency involving a female in distress. Upon arrival, EMS personnel advised law enforcement that they had already responded to the suspect's calls five times that day, determining she had no actual medical emergency and was abusing the 911 system. The suspect admitted to being off her medication and, when the deputy attempted to investigate the situation, she refused lawful commands to stay seated. She physically pushed past the deputy to exit the building, and the encounter escalated outside when she actively resisted being handcuffed. During the struggle, the suspect kicked both an EMS provider and the deputy before being taken to the ground. While restrained, she bizarrely counted down from ten and attempted to bite the deputy’s arm. She was taken into custody and charged with Resisting an Officer With Violence, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Battery on EMS Personnel.
