On January 1, 2025, at around 3:00 AM, the Miami County Sheriff's Office dispatcher advised deputies that they had received a call of a wrong way driver. The vehicle was described as a grey Honda looking vehicle. Deputy Leavitt located a vehicle matching the description. He observed the vehicle make a traffic violation as it pulled into a gas station. He initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the 18-year-old driver. The woman's license to drive was suspended so she presented an ID card. Deputy Leavitt also noticed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the end of the tests, she was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) and several other charges. She was transported to the Sheriff's Office, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.126% BAC.
