A plainclothes Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputy put his hand on Local 10 investigative reporter Jeff Weinsier and threatened him with jail while Weinsier attempted to question Mayor Daniella Levine Cava about millions in taxpayer spending. Deputy Lester Aguilar displayed no visible badge or credentials and never verbally identified himself as law enforcement. Internal Affairs later cleared him, claiming he was maintaining a “safe buffer zone.” Then, while the complaint was still being investigated, the mayor’s security detail received a reminder to properly display law-enforcement credentials. Apparently, nothing was wrong—they just needed to make sure it did not happen that way again. 📺 Watch the full breakdown on Thin Blue Lies. 📄 Story tips, resources & support 👉 https://www.thinblueliesmedia.com Submit police accountability tips, bodycam footage, public records, court documents, and local story leads. 👕 Thin Blue Lies merch: https://www.youtube.com/@thinblueliesmedia/store #PoliceAccountability #PressFreedom #FirstAmendment #MiamiDade #InternalAffairs #ThinBlueLies
