On February 24, 2024, an officer with the Martin County Sheriff's Office was concluding a call within a pub when a security guard alerted him to a woman was refusing to leave. According to the security guard, the suspect, later identified as a 32-year-old female named Kara, used the men’s restroom, violating their zero-tolerance policy. Kara was charged with trespassing after warning and resisting without violence. Although Kara repeatedly referenced an attorney, she was assigned a public defender.
