Officer Gregory Barlaug from the Tampa Police Department spotted a white 2020 Hyundai Sonata blow through a stop sign. The car headed into the Centro Ybor Parking Garage on 15th Street. That's when he saw it hit a curb. He flipped on his lights for a stop. The driver pulled over by the gate. He approached and learned her name was Sandy. While talking to her, he picked up signs she might be impaired. He smelled alcohol too. She said she had been texting. Her friend was waiting inside. She confessed to drinking earlier that night. Suspecting she was over the limit, he asked her to step out. She had to do some sobriety tests. He began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next came the Walk and Turn. Sandy missed touching heel to toe on her steps. Her turn was all wrong. Last was the One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. Her counting went off track. Her running the stop sign, the curb hit, those impairment clues, the alcohol smell, her own words about drinking, and the failed tests all added up. Officer Barlaug arrested her for DUI. He took her to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. There, she turned down a breath test. They charged her under 316.193(1) and let her go until court. 4:54 rooster 🐓 in the background? 7:04 Is it okay of I put my jacket on before i get arrested? 11:39 Good call, officer.
