On October 16, 2023, a Camden County, Georgia deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-95 for speeding. When the deputy attempted to arrest the driver, a physical struggle broke out on the shoulder of the interstate. A Taser deployment had little effect, and the deputy ultimately discharged his firearm. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene despite first aid efforts. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the officer-involved shooting investigation.
