A woman riding a bicycle was taken into custody after she ignored a deputy’s repeated commands and continued down the road. When the deputy moved in front of her path, the encounter turned into a struggle as he tried to secure her in handcuffs. The woman repeatedly demanded to know why she was being arrested and accused deputies of targeting her. From inside the patrol vehicle, she refused to cooperate with several requests, insulted the deputies, and claimed she could use spiritual forces against the arresting deputy. She was later accused of deliberately spitting on another deputy but insisted she had only been removing gum from her mouth. The State pursued two of the five charges connected to the arrest and declined to prosecute the other three. The woman pleaded guilty to the remaining felony and misdemeanor, received credit for the time she had already spent in custody, and was assessed $1,058 by the court. The case has been resolved.
