Just before midnight on September 10, 2022, a police officer in Fair Lawn, New Jersey stopped a driver after a 911 caller reported an erratic driver who had just knocked down a road sign. The driver admitted to two drinks. After field sobriety tests, officers found an open container of alcohol in her vehicle and arrested her for driving under the influence. In this video we walk through each step and the law behind it: field sobriety testing, New Jersey's open container law, the enhanced charge for a DUI near school property, and unsafe operation of a vehicle. This is public police body camera footage obtained through a public records request. We add commentary and analysis.
