Someone said a driver was asleep at the wheel near Shermer Road and Angle Avenue. When he arrived, Officer McClellan saw a white 2024 Kia Forte stranded in the middle of the street. The driver was still asleep, even though the car was in drive. McClellan gently woke her up while another officer parked her car and turned off the engine. The driver was 21-year-old Jennifer Zavala. She told the officer she was on her way home to Zion after leaving a party there. She insisted she thought she was already in Zion, despite being in Northbrook. When asked if she had been drinking, she admitted to having some alcohol earlier that evening. Sensing she might be impaired, Officer McClellan asked her to step out of the car and perform some field sobriety tests. Another officer led her through the tests. The results backed up the suspicion that she was intoxicated. At one point, she even acknowledged she had been arrested for DUI before. Because she had fallen asleep in the middle of the road, smelled of alcohol, and showed signs of impairment, Officer McClellan placed her under arrest for DUI. She was handcuffed, placed in the patrol car, and taken to the police station. At the station, the officer read her the Warning to Motorist form. She agreed to take a breath test. Her results showed her BAC was 0.142%, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, she was released with a list of tickets waiting for her court hearing. The charges included driving under the influence of alcohol, operating over the legal limit, and reckless driving. 5:23 How old are you? "Zion" 5:53 after the officer asks What's going on? The driver says I'm trippin. If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
