On August 8, 2022, a liquor store clerk near the campus of Washington State University (WSU) called police after he had confiscated a fake ID. The liquor store clerk indicated that the picture on the confiscated ID matched the person that attempted to buy alcohol. The police officer used the name on the fake ID to locate an Instagram account for a WSU student by the same name. She happened to list in her IG profile that she was a member of a WSU sorority. The police officer paid a visit to the sorority house and obtained the woman's phone number. He then called her and explained that he would be forwarding charges to the Whitman County Prosecutor's Office.
