On October 27, 2023, Rowan University Police Officers were conversing in a parking lot with student residents, when they heard a traffic collision occur nearby. Officers activated their body worn cameras and made contact with the parties involved in the accident. After separating the hostile parties, officers asked the at-fault 20-year-old driver to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The woman, who was wearing a Batman Halloween costume, denied consuming any alcohol. However, the results of the FSTs proved otherwise. When attempting to place her under arrest for DUI, the woman pulled back, dropped to the ground, and started to resist arrest. At the police station, she submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.14% BAC. In addition, officers found some white, powdery substance in her possession.
