In 2021 a business owner contacted emergency services to report a major theft at her store after an internal audit revealed that a large amount of money had gone missing. At first, she did not know who might be responsible, but she later became suspicious of an employee whose spending habits appeared to suddenly change. In an effort to confirm her suspicions, the owner set up her own counter-sting operation by discreetly marking bills before officers arrived, hoping to determine whether the missing money was being taken from her cash register.
