A routine traffic stop takes a dangerous turn when the passenger of a Dodge Challenger suddenly jumps out and runs—allegedly carrying multiple firearms, including an AR-15-style rifle! The armed man hops fences and races through the neighborhood as officers pursue him. After police finally catch up with him, they make it clear just how close the situation came to ending very differently. “You almost got shot!” The man argues that officers should not have shot him in the back, but he appears to misunderstand Tennessee v. Garner. That ruling does not create a blanket rule protecting every fleeing suspect from deadly force. The critical question is whether officers reasonably believe the person poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury—and running with multiple firearms can dramatically change that assessment.
