Cop Trespasses On Private Property Over Music In Illinois Champaign Police HARASSMENT caught on camera. Cops TRESPASS on PRIVATE PROPERTY over a noise complaint with ZERO evidence. No decibel reader. No written complaint. Just their ears. This is a FOURTH AMENDMENT VIOLATION in Champaign, Illinois, USA. WHAT HAPPENED: Officer Bloom, badge 742, a 20-year veteran, and Officer Walton, badge 711, responded to an alleged noise ordinance violation against a resident playing amplified music on his own private property. When asked for the complaint, they had none. When asked for a decibel reader, Officer Bloom admitted his only device was his ears and experience. The resident pointed out that downtown Champaign bars blast louder music into public streets nightly with zero enforcement. He accused the department of selective enforcement, noting cars in his neighborhood boom music daily shaking his walls with no police response. Officer Bloom attempted to touch the residents personal equipment on his own property. The resident immediately invoked his FOURTH AMENDMENT rights and ordered officers to back up. Instead of de-escalating, Bloom demanded hands out of pockets, escalating a noise complaint into a confrontation. Bloom admitted on body camera the music was so loud it was hard to think. The resident used this against him, getting a 20-year veteran to confirm on camera that loud music disrupts his thoughts. The resident told officers to arrest him or leave. He said he would not resist and referenced the Illinois SAFE-T Act eliminating cash bail. Neither officer arrested him. Neither wrote a citation. Neither had any objective evidence a violation occurred. He stated he previously sued the Champaign Police Department and intended to pursue further legal action. OFFICER BLOOM HISTORY: FOIA records show Officer Eric Bloom has documented disciplinary actions including a letter of reprimand in 2009 for twice failing to return a citizens wallet and a separate two-day suspension. He was also named as a defendant in a federal lawsuit involving the Champaign Police Department. CHAMPAIGN PD LAWSUITS: The City of Champaign has settled police misconduct lawsuits totaling over one million dollars in 2019 alone. Additional settlements include $74,500 in 2020 and $4,000 in 2023 for unlawfully denying FOIA records on police complaints. In 2025 reporting revealed the police review board lacked power to hold officers accountable. No public lawsuit or settlement specific to this noise encounter has been identified as of this upload. Updates will be posted if new information becomes available.
