Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 1:32 AM on August 24, 2025, Officer Edwin Sherman of the Waldwick Police Department saw a 2023 Kia Telluride traveling without taillights on Franklin Turnpike near Home Hardware. He followed the vehicle as it turned onto E Prospect Street, then stopped it near Grove Street. After the Kia pulled over, Officer Sherman approached and spoke with the driver, who was identified as Babita. While talking with her, Officer Sherman smelled alcohol and noticed other signs of possible impairment. Babita said she was coming from Ho-Ho-Kus after dropping off a friend. She also said she owned Carlo Russo Wine & Spirit World in nearby Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. During a phone call with her husband, Babita admitted that she had consumed alcohol earlier that night. Her husband later arrived at the scene while the traffic stop was underway. Because Officer Sherman suspected she was impaired, he asked Babita to leave the vehicle and complete field sobriety exercises. She first took the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test, followed by the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn, Babita failed to touch heel-to-toe on every step and made an improper turn. She then took the One Leg Stand test but failed to raise her foot as required. The odor of alcohol, her admission that she had been drinking, and her poor performance on the sobriety exercises led to her arrest for DWI. Officer Sherman took Babita to the Waldwick Police Department for processing. At the station, officers read Babita the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She refused to provide breath samples but admitted drinking two tequila shots earlier that evening. Once processing was complete, Babita was released to her husband while awaiting court. He signed the Potential Liability Warning on her behalf. Officer Sherman issued Babita the following traffic tickets: Operating under the influence (39:4-50) Refusal to submit to chemical test (39:50.4A) Consent to take samples of breath (39:50.2) Careless driving (39:4-97) Failure to use lighted lamps when required (39:3-47A) If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
