On February 29, 2024, at about 6:08 PM, officers from the A-7 (East Boston) Anti-Crime Unit arrested 29-year-old Jenttrey Serrano of Malden after a traffic stop near Maverick Square. Officers pulled Serrano over for running a red light and learned he was driving with a suspended license. After he hesitated to exit the vehicle, officers removed him and conducted an inventory search, which revealed a container holding multiple bags of cocaine and a digital scale. The drugs, including a block and several bags later confirmed to be cocaine, weighed a total of 68.1 grams. Serrano was charged with cocaine trafficking and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and was arraigned in East Boston District Court.
