A black 2019 Tesla Model 3 pulled out fast from a spot. It almost hit his patrol car. He flipped on lights for a stop. The driver parked. The driver was 22-year-old Joniyah Cardenas. She said she drank alcohol that night. Officer Willey smelled booze on her breath. He saw an open Casamigos tequila bottle in the car. He called Officer Domenick Allegretta for sobriety tests. Allegretta began with the eye test, Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. Next came Walk and Turn. Joniyah missed heel-to-toe steps. She turned wrong. She took too many steps back. Last was One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. She lost balance. Her wild drive, booze smell, bad signs, open bottle, and failed tests led to arrest for DUI. Cops held her car 12 hours under John's Law. Willey took her to headquarters. There, they read her the breath test statement. She agreed to blow. Her Alcotest showed 0.13% BAC, almost twice the 0.08% limit. After paperwork, a sober adult took her home. He signed her liability warning for court.
