Broward Sheriff’s Office body-worn camera footage. July 14, 2025, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. A license plate reader flagged a stolen 2025 Nissan Altima. Deputies followed it into an apartment parking lot and moved in with four marked patrol units. The driver turned the car around and rammed a deputy’s patrol car and civilian vehicles in the lot, forcing the deputy, who was on foot, to get out of the way to avoid being hit. BSO estimated the damage to that patrol car alone at $25,000. The driver, 29, was stopped only because the vehicles he hit boxed him in. A records check showed active warrants for dealing in stolen property, violation of parole, and violation of probation. During the tow inventory, deputies found a vial that field-tested positive for fentanyl; that charge was never filed. In June 2026, he pleaded no contest to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding at high speed, and grand theft auto. He was adjudicated guilty and sentenced as a habitual offender to 3 years in Florida State Prison, with credit for 334 days served, followed by 10 years of drug offender probation, and ordered to pay $9,288.66 in restitution. Source for charges and sentencing: Broward County Clerk of Courts. This video is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to glorify violence or criminal behavior.
