The search for a domestic violence stabbing and strangulation suspect ended with the assistance of K-9 Mako and his partner K-9 Handler Dep. Ricardo Ferrer. On Monday night, Deputies responded to the 4200 block of 48th Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance where the victim reported that her live-in boyfriend attempted to strangle her. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was discovered that the victim had also been stabbed by the suspect. K-9 Mako and his partner K-9 Handler Dep. Ricardo Ferrer helped bring to an end the search for the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Bobby Dean Martin. Deputies searched the area and upon locating Martin, he refused multiple commands and attempted to flee. Our deputy deployed a taser, which had no effect on Martin. As Martin continued to flee, K-9 Mako immediately tracked him and was able to successfully locate Martin. At that point, Martin began actively resisting and tried to strangle K-9 Mako. Deputies were eventually able to subdue Martin and take him into custody, but only after Martin kicked and hit our deputies multiple times. He continued to fight at the hospital, where he was medically cleared for release to the jail. At the jail, he also physically fought with the booking deputies. Martin faces numerous charges including felony battery - domestic violence by strangulation, aggravated battery, battery on a police dog, three counts of battery on an officer, and resisting arrest with violence. He is currently being held at the county jail without bond.
