They were at Saw Mill Road and Ruff Court. A car crash had been reported. They saw a woman in a damaged Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep had front-end damage. She was in the driver's seat. Later, it was clear. The Jeep hit a Toyota Rav4. This happened making a left turn onto Ruff Court. The officers spoke to the Jeep's driver. Her name was Christa McGillen. They saw signs she might be impaired. Christa said she drank alcohol that night. She was driving home. Officers suspected impairment. They asked Christa to do tests. Christa made excuses for not doing the tests. Sergeant Parenta stopped the tests. It was for safety reasons. Signs of impairment were clear. Alcohol smelled on her breath. She could not do the tests well. Christa was arrested for drunk driving. Her Jeep was taken. It was held for 12 hours under John's Law. Christa went to the North Haledon Police Department. She was processed there. She heard the rules for drivers. She agreed to give breath samples. After waiting 20 minutes, she blew into the device. Her breath alcohol level was 0.26%. This was much higher than the legal limit. The limit is 0.08%. Her processing was done. Her tickets were made. Christa was released to a sober person. He signed a warning for her. She would later go to court. Sergeant Parenta gave her tickets. They were for drunk driving. He also cited her for reckless driving. Court documents show March 4, 2024. Christa was found guilty of drunk driving. The reckless driving ticket became careless driving. Because she was found guilty. Christa must use an ignition interlock device. This is for 7 months. She must attend 12 hours at a driver resource center. She also paid $930 in fines. Christa had faced charges before. On April 7, 2019, she got tickets. These were for careless driving. She also got one for leaving an accident. That accident involved injury. This was in Hawthorne, New Jersey. The leaving accident charge was dropped. She was found guilty of careless driving.
